Food For Thought….What do You Set Your Standard To?

There is a music artist that I’ve heard recently who has lyrics that makes you stop. Some singers rely on a catchy beat but this artist made me literally just sit there and contemplate the words she was singing. Lauren Diagle. Her song “Trust in you” has a chorus that says “when you don’t move the mountains in needing you to move. When you don’t part the water I wish I could walk through. When you don’t give the answers as I cry out to you. I will trust. I will trust. I will trust in you.” This song made me really think. I’m sure you have a few petitions before the Lord too. Often times we wonder “when and how” things will take place.

We are human and I’m really not sure if this side of glory the desire to know will ever go away but we don’t have to be a slave to it. David Jeremiah was teaching last night about the church in the book of acts. He was saying how they were unified. This unification did not mean uniformity. One other notation I thought was interesting is that they didn’t become unified by seeking to be like that others.

When you tune a piano you don’t tune it to another piano you tune it to a chord. A set standard. Then all pianos are naturally in tune with each other because they have been tuned to the same standard. His point, the early church, when they were seeking the fire and even after, had a desire that caused them to seek hard after God and the results are a church of action as seen in acts. A church that was unified. I began to wonder if this is part of our issue today. We seek unity with each other and try to conform ourselves to our surroundings. What if we patterned ourselves after the early church? Many of the things we get frustrated over would cease as the unity of the Spirit takes over. But here is where we trust. Have you too a request before God that hasn’t been answered? A question? Desire of your heart? Take this time to trust. Seek the unity of your soul to Him.

Acts 1:14 “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.”

Food For Thought…Giving It All

“There’s a voice that cries out in the darkness searching for a heart that would love Him. Searching for one who would give Him their all, give it all, He wants it all.” I saw a short clip to a song entitled “He wants it all” and I had to listen to the whole song. So many times we feel like God will not love us or be able to get beyond our past. Yet the truth is He can get beyond our past.

In fact, He is the one who made a way that our past wouldn’t have to haunt us. He is the very reason we can have a future. A bright future. A hopeful future. A good ending. The devil knows that when a life and heart fully understands this they are no longer bound to the guilt that he tries to shame us with. The lies, stories and old habits no longer hold us and the devil loses his stronghold over is. God is wanting our whole heart, mind, soul and life. How much have you given Him? Enough? How much is enough exactly? How did you decided that? How about giving all?

Romans 12:1″I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

When I read this verse I get convicted. My ‘reasonable service’,…. Have I given my reasonable service? Have you? Lord,…we fall before you, longing to love you as we should. If we’ve held back from you would you show us the areas we are still holding onto? I pray we open our hands and give you all today.
