Day 28: Pray for Your Husband’s Reputation

Proverbs 31:23 says, “Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.”  Don’t we all want our husbands to have a reputation like that?  Pray for your husband today that his actions would line up with the Word of God.  Pray that your husband wouldn’t say or do anything that may negatively impact his reputation.  Pray that outside influences, like social media or gossip, wouldn’t be used to slander his name.   Pray that he would be led by the Holy Spirit in his decision, and not his own will, which can lead to destruction.  Pray that if his reputation is already bruised that the Lord would cover it and heal any damage that was done from it.  Pray that your husband would be honest and trustworthy in all his actions.

Verses:

“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.”       Proverbs 22:1

“The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, and a man is valued by what others say of him.”      Proverbs 27:21

Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend me from those who rise up against me.”      Psalm 59:1

Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.”         1 Peter 2:11-12

“Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.”         Philippians  4:5

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, a but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.  Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.”             1 Timothy 3:2-7

For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.””    Romans 10:11

Do not let me be ashamed, O LORD, for I have called upon You; let the wicked be ashamed; let them be silent in the grave.”   Psalm 31:17
