Day 8: Pray for Your Husband’s Temptations

A temptation in your husband’s life can be another woman, money, time, work, alcohol, drugs, gambling, food, pornography, or anything that takes his attention, is a stronghold, or that lures him away from the Lord’s will.  Pray for your husband’s temptations, that he may not be lured away by the enticements that come along.  Pray for him to have courage and a boldness to get through those temptations when they arise.  Pray that he would be filled with the Spirit, able to recognize those allurements.  Pray that your husband would seek the Lord when temptations arise, and would be quick to repent when snared.  Pray that he would trust God and not his flesh.  Pray for those specific areas where your husband struggles.  Pray for any area that may be not yet revealed, that it would be confessed.  Pray for his choices to line up with God’s word.  Pray for accountability for your husband.  Whether it’s accountability from you, a close friend, or from an elder, pray that it would be fruitful and not burdensome.  Pray for his protection as he goes about is day, and that he would have self-control to resist the lusts of the flesh.  Pray that your husband would seek God’s word for guidance.  Pray for this everyday as temptations continually lure us into sin.

Verses:

“Hell and Destructionfn are never full; So the eyes of man are never satisfied.”     Proverbs 27:20

“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.  Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.  But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”         James 1:12-15

“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”       Galatians 5:19-21

“When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”           Luke 22:40

“But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.”    Luke 8:13

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”                           1 Corinthians 10:13

“Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.  But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”     Romans 13:13-14

“I will set nothing wicked before my eyes;  I hate the work of those who fall away;  It shall not cling to me.”        Psalm 101:3

“Whoever has no rule over his own spirit  Is like a city broken down, without walls.”         Proverbs 25:28

“But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.”       1 Timothy 6:9

“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”       Mark 14:38

“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”  Matthew 26:41

Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.”          Revalation 3:10
