Food for thought….what you breathe in

what we breathe in we will breathe out

There is a song by City Harmonics called “The spark” I love it.  Read the lyrics below and then we’ll get into what it means:

Could a spark of Your love
Light a fire in me?
Just a spark, warm my cold heart
It’s the living that breathe

When I breathe in hope
And breathe in grace and breathe in God
Then I’ll breathe out peace
And breathe out justice, breathe out love

Oh, this little light’s gonna shine
With just a spark light a fire
Just a spark

Could a spark of Your love
Light the whole church on fire?
When we care for our neighbor
More than we care for style?

When we breathe in hope
And breathe in grace, breathe in God
Yeah, we’ll breathe out peace
And breathe out justice, breathe out love

Oh, this little light’s gonna shine
With just a spark light a fire
Just a spark

Just a spark could change my heart
Just a spark, come change my heart
Just a spark is just a start
Light a fire in my heart

Light a fire here in my heart
Light a fire in my heart
Light a fire in my heart
A fire in my heart, with just a spark

You see, whatever you breath in, that’s what will come out of you.  If you hang out with people who complain and are negative, that’s what you will be, that is what will also come out of you.  When you watch garbage on television, that is what will come out of you.  But when you breathe in God’s grace and love, God’s grace and love is what will come out of you.  When you breathe in God’s Word, that is what will come out of you.

“Whatsoever a man sows, that he will reap” think about this scripture, and apply it to your life as well as your marriage, and your children.
Whatever you sow into your children, that is what you will reap.  Recently, we were at a playground with a bunch of kids, they were all 8-10 years old.  Most of their mothers were on the other side of the playground.  I sat over on the playground with my kids and I was in complete shock at the vulgar language that these kids were using.  Finally, one boy and my son Jude started talking, this little boy was 8 years old.  I couldn’t believe the words he was saying, so his mother probably saw my jaw drop and she came over and nicely told her son “sweetie, lets not use that language because there are little kids around and we don’t want them to hear that”.  I wanted to jump up and scream “HELLO!!! HE IS THE LITTLE KID, HE’S ONLY 8!!”  My point is, what that little boy breathed in, that is what came out of him.  Apply that to every area of your life.  What goes in is what will come out.
Apply it to your marriage, if don’t put in any effort, then don’t expect your marriage to be successful.  If you don’t smother your marriage with God’s word and His presence, then God’s love is not what will come out of your marriage.
Ladies, BREATHE in God’s love, grace, and peace and it will be what overflows out of you! Like the song says, I pray a spark of God’s love would light us on fire for HIM, and that would be what flows out of us!
Listen to the song here …..you’ll love it 🙂
