Food for thought…In faith

Small planes. Cautionary warnings. Less than ideal weather to travel in. These are a few of the things I am thinking on as I sit in a plane being de-iced and waiting to take off. We’ve been told there is “weather” here in buffalo and in Newark, where my connection flight is, oh, and “weather” in between. As I sit, I am ever so aware that I am not in control. The hum of the engines just to my left tell me that the plane is powerful. But how exactly does one defeat “weather”? Easy traveling does not equip one for days when nothing goes right. When all goes wrong is when you learn the lessons.

In fact, many of the things I have learned about the computer system that I use daily has come from examples of “what to do when you can’t do what you are supposed to do”. I guess that’s why I like it. I like to try to figure things out. It’s also why God is such an enigma to me. We are not called to figure it out. We are called to “walk by faith”. A faith that trusts and is dependent, that is, dependent on HIM. Right now I’m trusting that the plane is properly de-iced, the pilot is experienced and that the weather is not so serious that we should not travel. If I can place my life in the hands of a stranger who is just as human as I then what is it that stops us from trusting God? Why do we hold back? What is the barrier between He and creation? Even the wind and the rain obey your voice, Lord,…so why can’t I?! Joshua 24:24″ And the people said unto Joshua, The Lord our God will we serve, and his voice will obey.” We know you are good but Lord, I pray that our faith go beyond knowing to believing, proclaiming and standing in faith!
