Food for thought…A true relationship

Growing up, my mom always taught us what was right.  She always read the Bible to us.  I always believed every word of it.  I never doubted the genuineness or truth of God’s love. I always loved my mom, and so when I was a little girl, I wanted to please her.  I wanted to read the Bible because she wanted me to.  Then as a teenager (who knew everything 🙂 ) I still believed all that she told me, never doubted it, but I didnt want to live for it.  I had a head knowledge of God’s Word, but it ended there.

Today I was reading about the Samaritan woman that Jesus met at the well.  He met her where she was at.  He begins talking to her about true worshippers.  This Samaritan woman responds with ” I know that the Messiah is coming, who is called Christ, when He comes He will tell us all things.”  Jesus said to her “I who speak to you am He.”

You see, she had a knowledge of who Jesus was, she was taught.  But she didnt recognize who He was because she didnt have a relationship with Him.   There she was, talking to Jesus! And she didnt even know it!

Often times this is the case.  People have a knowledge of Jesus, they believe in Him, but they lack the relationship.  Sadly, I believe that this is the reason that 80% of Americans consider themselves Christians.  They have the knowledge of who God is, they believe He is real, but it ends there.  Without a relationship, we have nothing.  Having a knowledge of Christ does nothing but make us accountable.   Recognizing our need for a Savior and asking Him to forgive your sins, that is what births a relationship with Him, and the salvation of your soul.

Although I have heard many of people talk about their prayers to God, but ask them the question if they are born again Christians and they look at you as though you are from another planet.  Born again… you know, covered by the blood of Jesus, forgiven of your sins, access to the Father through Jesus’ blood.  Nope, they have no idea what I am talking about.  Without Jesus, there is no forgiveness of sins, and with no forgiveness of sins…. YOU HAVE NO ACCESS TO GOD.

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2:5.

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 8:12

Jesus offers forgiveness to anyone who wants it.  Access to God, the Creator of the universe.  He wants you, and He wants me.  Ask yourself if you are like the Samaritan woman, do you have the knowledge, and perhaps missing the relationship?

He died so that He could have a relationship with you.  All you need to do is ask Him.
