Food for thought…All the days of her life

proverbs 31 wife

“She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.” Proverbs 31:11

Our calling as wives is to do our husbands good.  ALL THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

It’s so important to let your spouse to know that you’re thinking of them throughout the day.  Every morning I pack my husband’s lunch and I put a little sticky note on his sandwich bag that tells him that I love him, I’m praying for his day, and I can’t wait to see him when he’s done with work.  As often as I remember, I pray for him throughout the day.

I no pro, I’ve only been married for 8 years, and I am a failing sinner still.  So I’m not saying that I have it all figured out, I assure you that I don’t. But this is DO know…..I will give an account to God someday as to what kind of a wife I am.  I want to know that I was a wife that was pleasing to God, that followed his Word, and that adored my husband.  I sure do adore him!

I’ve learned to stop sweating the little things.  Sure, all of our marriages have things that drive us nutty. I used to get annoyed at having to pick up my husband’s dirty socks off the bathroom floor, after almost 8 years of wedded bliss, I look for those dirty socks everyday. At first, I used to pick up those socks, and wherever my husband was in the house I would let him know that I “picked up his socks again” or “if I didn’t pick up the socks, the bathroom would be piled high with them!” After eight years, I don’t even mention it anymore.  I would pick them up, wash ’em and put them away…every…single…day! But I have learned that there worse things in life than picking up dirty socks off the floor.  Don’t sweat the little things!  Two imperfect people live together and share a life together, there’s going to be some bumps in the road.  But I’ve found that happiness in my marriage is putting each other first, letting each other know that you’re thinking of them, and always telling them that you love ’em.

Ladies, we are called by God to cherish our husbands, to submit to them, and follow their lead.  Sometimes we forget that 😉 I have found that when I am reading God’s Word, following His will, and in fellowship with Him, then I am full and able to be the wife that God has called me to be.  Apart from Him, I’ve failed.  Apart from being filled with His spirit I can do nothing, I am impatient, harsh, and naggy! (My spell check says that naggy is not a word, but you get the point).  Fill yourself afresh each day with Jesus, His Word, and His presence and you will be a victorious wife who walks pleasing to God.

Pour out your prayers for your husband as often as you can throughout the day.  This is so important.  There are fiery darts that satan wants to inflict into his soul, you are his support, his helper.  The best weapon we have is prayer and you sweet sister, have the ability to go before the throne of God WHENEVER you want to pray for your spouse.  Make sure you are doing it often.  Pray and fast for him.  God has given him to you as a spouse.  To take good care of him, to be his helper,  you must pray, pray pray!

Think about what you can do to make your husband’s day.  Go out of your way to make your husband feel special, all men need this.  Glorify God in your marriage.

Here’s some things that you can do to make your husband’s day today
