Food for thought….At the cross

at the crossWe sang this song at church the other day, and it really ministered to me.  Here are the lyrics, then we’ll get to the meaning below:

At the cross
Oh Lord You’ve searched me,
You know my way;
Even when I fail You,
I know You love me.
Your holy presence
Surrounding me
In every season,
I know You love me;
I know You love me.At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me,
There’s no greater love than this.
You have overcome the grave
Your glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now?You go before me,
You shield my way,
Your hand upholds me;
I know You love me.At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me,
There’s no greater love than this.
You have overcome the grave
Your glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now?

You tore the veil
You made a way
When You said that it is done

And when the earth fades,
Falls from my eyes,
And You stand before me,
I know You love me;
I know You love me.

At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me,
There’s no greater love than this.
You have overcome the grave
Your glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now?

When I listen to the lyrics of this song, it portrays God’s amazing and infinite love toward us.  The first verse says ” Oh Lord You’ve searched me,You know my way, even when I fail You, I know You love me.”  Think about that for a moment, I am in awe that even though I fail so often, His love never changes and I KNOW IT because He still saturates me with His love.  The song says “I know you love me”.  Looking to the cross and the sacrifice that He poured out at Calvary, I cant doubt or deny His great grace and love toward me.  It is evident, I have experienced it with all of my being.
A friend from high school asked me not long ago “how do you know what you believe about God is real?” I know that it is real because I have experienced it first hand.  I have experienced God’s love and His presence in my life and I could never deny that it is real.  It’s like the woodstove in my living room….My son burned his finger on it one time.  How does he know that it is hot now? Because he has experienced it! He doesn’t go near it now, he cant deny that it is hot because he knows for himself.  My relationship with God is real, I know it’s true because I have experienced it, because I know him, because I have a relationship with Him.  Like this song says….I KNOW He loves me.  In every season, through my failures, my triumphs, my valleys, my mountains, and everything in between, every season of my life, I know He loves me, and I know He loves you.
I pray you would be consumed by Him today and His infinite love toward you!
