Food for thought…Be still and know

thankful for the little things in my life

“Be still and know that I am God”

So often we get distracted by the busyness of this life that we oversee the blessings and miracles in our life that God does each and every day.

I remember a time when so many unfortunate things were happening in my life, I remember calling my husband and saying “why? why is everything going wrong?” It sent my down a slippery slope of not being content, and looking at the down side of everything.

Sometimes, we get so busy about our OWN business and life, that we lose sight of the bigger picture.  I read this scripture, and I was reminded that God loves me and His grace is sufficient for me.  You see, I was so busy that I looked past all of the small blessings that God had put in my path each day, and the miracles that He was doing in my life.  Yes, being a mom and wife is hard sometimes.  Taking care of your kids can be challenging, cleaning your house, doing laundry, making dinner, they can be exhausting!  Especially when you get into a mundane routine with them! But God challenged me to think about the blessings that he puts in my path each day.  So every day I have been writing down 5 blessings that God has given me each and every day, or 5 little miracles that he has done on my life.  When I started doing this, I was in awe of God’s greatness.  In awe that He is involved in every area of our lives, even the little things.  Today here is what my blessings were…..

1)I am blessed that I was able to get up and bring my 4 kids to church in a country that allows us to worship God freely.

2)I am blessed that my little flowers that I planted with my kids in the spring finally opened

3)I am blessed that we brought the kids to my parents house and had dinner with them (we do every Sunday).  I am blessed because I love my family and they live 5 minutes from me.

4) I am blessed that we were able to come home with the kids and settle down on the couch and watch a movie and talk to them about their day

5) I am blessed that God gave us rain today for our garden 🙂

You see, these may seem minuscule to you, but in those things, I saw God’s love, sovereignty and grace.  Instead of being so busy, take the time to write down a few things each day that God has blessed you with.  You will fall more in love with our Savior when you see how much he loves you and blesses you.  Have a beautiful day Ladies!
