Food for thought….Created for your man

created for your man

“Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man” 1 Corinthians 11:9

We just got back from a camping trip.  We again went to Jellystone park.  My kids love it there, so we decided to go back for 4 days.  I have so many great stories to tell you, so keep an eye out for them!

As I was there, it was a time to just get away from the hustle and bustle of life and relax with the kids.  Sometimes I get tunnel vision and I get so focused on all of my daily tasks, that I forget how to relax.  My husband kept telling me that I needed to stop rushing around and just relax a little.

We invited my parents to come for dinner one of the nights that we were there.  I like to be prepared ahead of time…for EVERYTHING! So I am always thinking of what I need to do next.  My husband and the kids were collecting sticks to start a fire, I had just put pizza on the grill for lunch, and I told my husband that my oldest son and I were going to ride our bikes up to the camp store to get some ice so that I would have cold drinks to offer to my parents.  He said “why don’t you just wait until you are done with the pizzas so that they don’t burn because I am trying to get a fire started with the kids and I can’t do both”.  I responded with something like this “no I just want to go now incase my parents come earlier, I want them to have cold drinks, I’ll be super quick”.  So I hopped on my bike and Jude hopped on his and we went to the camp store.  I had an extra 50 cents left over from the ice, and Jude asked if he could have it to buy himself a pack of candy.  So I waited and I shopped around the store while he was picking out his candy.  Forgetting that I had put pizzas on the grill, I kept shopping with Jude.  We finally got back to the campsite, two of my kids were crying because their bikes tipped over, the pizzas were black, and Justin looked at me with a confused look on his face.  My first response was “why didn’t you take the pizzas off the grill?” He said “I wish you would help me with what I am doing instead of being on your own page all the time.”  Agh! That cut me to the heart, I hate disappointing him.

The next morning, I was reading in 1 Corinthians, and I read the scripture “neither was man created for woman, but woman for man” Then I got to thinking about all of the times that I AM ON MY OWN PAGE! You see, Justin was not created to help me and get on my page, but rather I was created to help him, to get on his page, to come along side of what he is doing.  I was created for him.  My prayer is that I would stop being a stubborn wife, and instead be a submissive wife.  One who fulfills my God created purpose as a wife, who blesses my husband beyond measure, and who stays on his page instead of wandering onto my own.  Following God’s will and purpose as a spouse is when our marriages will be blessed beyond measure.  Ladies, it starts with us, let us come along side of our husbands today and help them with what they are doing!

  1. Lynnette says:

Marissa, the Lord showed me something similar a few years ago. Aaron has coached basketball and base ball since before I knew him. I hated it. I hated that He wasn’t at home helping me with what ever I wanted done. I hated that he loved it so much. I hated that my kids started loving it too. The Lord spoke to me one day to instead of murmer and complain about it all to see if there was anything I could do to help (such as paper work and stuff). This would be putting way more things on my plate to do but at least we would all be doing it as a family. Aaron was so thankful for the help and it actually helped us grow closer as a couple. I still don’t love all this sporty stuff but I sure do love my husband.

    • Thanks for sharing Lynette. Sometimes I pray that God would change things that my husband does that I don’t like. As I pray, God changes me. Then I realize that it was me all along that God wanted to do the work in. Things run so much smoother when we follow our role as a wife, and come along side our men. Have a great day!
