Food for thought…eclipsed by glory

I heard this song and I loved it…It is by David Crowder, you can listen to the song here

When all of a sudden I am unaware of these afflictions
eclipsed by glory, and I realize just how beautiful You are
And how great Your affections are for me.

Sometimes when I think about God’s love towards me, I am in awe.  In awe that He could love a sinner like me, that He could love me despite all the of times that I fail.  We are afflicted because of the fall of mankind, but as we draw closer to God, He brings us peace that surpasses understanding even in the midst of our afflictions.

When I was a teenager, I was not walking with the Lord, in fact I was rebellious toward God in every way. A close member in my family was pregnant with her first child, a child that she waited for,  when she was ready to deliver her little girl, she learned that this little baby had unexpectedly passed away.  I can remember going to visit her that evening with my mom.  Do you know what I saw when I arrived? Peace.  I distinctly remember it.  I was not even attempting to walk with God, but the peace that this dear woman had at the death of her first child amazed me.  It was a peace that could only come from God.  A peace that surpassed understanding. I didn’t understand it, but God used it to testify to me that He can bring comfort to those who are afflicted. I was in awe that day.  That woman delivered a beautiful baby girl that rested in the arms of Jesus before all of us, but I sure cant wait to meet her someday.

Being a pastor’s wife is a privilege in more ways than one, but I get to see how God’s people experience His peace amidst the storms of life.  I can give countless testimonies of people whose afflictions are eclipsed by God’s glory, and whose lives testify of His great grace.

Whatever afflictions you are going through today, abide in God’s love, cling to Him and you will experience a peace that surpasses understanding!
