Food for thought…falling into a trap

trap

I have a dog that is 9 months old.  She is crazy.   At night, I have to put her in her cage because otherwise she will chew up every pair of shoes that we own….Again.   She hates that cage, I have to drag her into it.  She is like a wild beast that puts her claws into the floor.  Then it occurred to me, give her a treat! Bribe her! Now, I put a treat in that cage, she runs right in, eats her treat and lays right down.  That simple.

I stopped and thought “wow, for months it never occurred to me to put a treat in there to get her to go in” That stinkin’ simple!!  But God reminded of the scripture “Let us lay aside every weight and sin that easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” Hebrews 12:1

Ensnare means: to capture, catch, trap

We look at sin (just like my dog looks at her cage) that we hate it, we would never fall into it, we don’t want anything to do with it.  But we dont see the snares that the enemy sets for us.  They are subtle, but we fall right in.   He sets out bait, we are enticed, and we fall for it.

That verse does not end there, it goes on to say “and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us”

Ladies, we are in a race, whether you believe it or not, we are on the final lap.  Abiding in Jesus is key to finishing this race.  He is able to keep us from stumbling.  As we walk in His will and follow His plans, we abide in His protection, and we are able to fight off the traps that Satan has set for us.

I pray that we would keep our eyes on Jesus, lay aside every sin that ensnares us! Walk with Him today, and trust that He will protect, nurture, and adore you.
