Food For Thought…For The Furtherance of The Gospel

We all go through hard trials, and we always will.  From the day that we accept Jesus as our personal Savior, we will have a bullseye on our back, and it doesn’t disappear until we are in glory.  Despite out hard circumstances, God is still working.  He works and molds us into who He wants us to be, and He makes us more like Him.  In your trials, do you cling to Jesus and allow Him to lead, direct, and purify you? Or are you kicking and screaming for the trial to end? (I wish I could say I havent done that)

My friend Deb wrote this to me a few days ago, and it couldnt be more true.  God loves you all dear sisters, and He is molding you into who He wants you to be.  Here is what she wrote:

“But I want you to know brethren that the things that have happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel.” Philippians 1:12

What things have happened to you? Divorce, abandonment, sickness, financial struggle, wayward children?…the list goes on and on. We all have experienced things in this life that have resulted in pain and struggle.  It is our choice how we use these experiences!  Paul chose to use all that he was facing to bring glory to God and to further the gospel.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” Romans 8:35

Nothing!!! Nothing shall separate us from the love of Christ!  He will never leave us or forsake us.  We will experience hardships in this life, but the choice is ours! Will we allow circumstances to swallow us up, or will we choose to allow our own experiences to impact the lives of others for the purpose of furthering the gospel?

Lets choose not to let circumstances define us! Instead, let’s hold fast to our identity in Christ!  God will use the things which have happened to us for good, as we moment by moment surrender our lives to the calling of Christ.
