Food for thought…Giving God Our Best

giving god our best

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” Hebrews 12:1

Everyone who knows me, they know that I love the Holidays.  My grandmother used to love the holidays as well, it was her favorite time of the year.  So, needless to say, I get excited when I hear Christmas songs, and I love to sing them!  I was privileged to bring my niece to a doctor’s appointment yesterday.  As we were waiting in the room, we could hear the Christmas music playing.  The song “Little Drummer Boy” came on the radio.  As the day went on and she ran some errands with me, I kept singing that song over and over.  I stopped as I sang the words to the song “I played my best for Him”.

It challenged me. I pondered in my heart, am I giving God my best?  I only have once chance at this life, a short time, a vapor.  I can only pray that one day I will stand before my Savior and have no regrets.  No regrets for the kind of wife that I was, no regrets for the kind of mom that I was, no regrets for the kind of Christian that I was.

My best attitude, my best stewardship, my best parenting, my best in all that I do.  God sees my heart, He sees the issues that are there.  He gave His life so that I might live.  I want to give Him all that I am, my life, because He is deserving of it.

Ladies, as you walk in God’s calling, give it all you have, your very best, run with endurance.  I don’t want to barely make it across that finish line, I want to cross that finish line knowing that I held nothing back, having no regrets, wholly surrendering my life to the One who has redeemed me by His blood. Isn’t He worthy of it?

Be a mother who adores her children and teaches them God’s Word.  Be a wife who cherishes her husband and submits to him.  Be a Christian who surrenders her life to God’s will and joyfully serves Him.  Before you know it, we will be standing before our Savior, giving an account for ourselves, I pray that I hold nothing back.
