Food for thought…God equips those He calls

God equips us

“Be not afraid, for I am with thee to deliver thee” Jeremiah 1:8

Look at the life of Jeremiah, he was young yet God called him to be a prophet, and Jeremiah responded by saying “Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak, I am only a child”  God responded to Jeremiah, saying “Say not, I am child: for thou shalt go to all that I send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shall speak.  Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee saith the Lord. Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth.  And the Lord saith unto me, Behold I have put My words in thy mouth.” Jeremiah 1:6-8

Think also about Moses, God called Moses to go to Pharoah and demand the release of the children of Israel.  Moses objected and said “Who am I that I should go before Pharoah?” Yet again we see God’s faithfulness as He says “certainly I will be with thee”

God calls each of us to different ministries, and a lot of times our first response might be, Ah Lord God! That was my first response when my husband and I got engaged, and he was already in leadership serving as an elder in the church.  I was a baby Christian, only walking with the Lord for a few months.  My response what “Lord, are you joking? Who am I to be married to a leader in the church? I barely even know the Bible!” I am still being molded every day, but God equips me for each endeavor and calling that He has placed on my life and yours.

God is faithful even when we are faithless.  Look at the outcome in the lives of Jeremiah and Moses…..Jeremiah became a mighty prophet of God and the things he prophesied all came to pass. Moses led the children on Israel out of captivity in Egypt.  These men accomplished mighty works of God because they believed and trusted in God whole heartedly.  By faith they trusted that He would perform that which he promised to in their lives.

God may be calling you to something that you never thought possible, or you never could imagine doing, just as Moses and Jeremiah thought also.  BUT, do you trust and know our God, and believe that He is able to perform the things that He has promised in your life?  He equips those that He calls, all He is looking for is a willing servant.  I want to be willing to put my hand in His and say Lord take me wherever you want me to go and use me however you wish because I trust that you will equip me for it.

  1. I was working on a blog post with just this theme. It’s so amazing that we are so hard on ourselves! The bible is full of examples of prophets and servants of The Lord saying ‘no thanks’ or stuttering out words of doubt. How can we be any different?

As long as we trust and try, we are open to service and open to the grace that makes that service sing. You saw it in your own life with your husband. I’m sure you can think of many more. It’s ok to doubt. But it’s not ok to get stuck there. Here’s to the grace that sets us on our feet and gets us walking!
    Blessings,
    Ceil

  2. I loved your statement: “God is faithful even when we are faithless.”
