Food for thought…God has a list for you

list for you

It’s the season of lists. Having just gotten back from a trip where my focus was for a long time I look at the calendar. What?! What do you mean Christmas is in “x” amount of days?!? Not ready? Check! Feeling some pressure? Check! Going on amazon to shop? Check! Sometimes the lists of “things I need to do” can just drain the joy right out of the season. When things overtake people and the reason why we congregate we know we have gone too far. I love giving gifts, visiting people and the like but I hate feeling like “I have to”. For me, that just ruins it. I’m more the type of person to give and do things through the whole year. After all, I don’t just love people for one specific day of the year. I love them all year long!

As I felt the crunch of time winding down for me I imagined what it must be like to be a person who has a very close expiration date. You know, the ones whom the  doctors have told, you have “x” amount of months, weeks, days, hours to live. How consuming and overwhelming that must feel! What matters then? I’m sure a lot of things on our lists cease to matter and time is then much more precious. I don’t know about you, but I do not want to live casually and then cram as much as I can in at the end of my life. I want to live now. I want to experience and share with people now! Time is winding down for us all. In truth, we are all people living with an expiration date. We do not know how many sands are left in our hourglass. Do what you can with who you can while you can and you will find it is enough. Much of our sorrow comes not from what we did do but what we didn’t do and wished we did. Open the door friend. Walk out and start crossing stuff off your list! God has a list for you. Is that the one you are working from? If not, He will gladly give  it to you 🙂

Matthew 12:50 “For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” You’ve got a purpose,….live it!
