Food for thought…Desiring Holiness

desiring holiness

My husband and I went to a Christian School administrators conference on Thursday. We went last year as well and I absolutely loved it.  Each year it is held at Calvary Chapel Finger Lakes.  This year we were blessed to sit under the teaching and wisdom of Pastor Ray Torrey of Seneca Falls.  He taught about DESIRING HOLINESS, and he also shared with us that the world is not just creeping into the church but it is flooding the church, not only outwardly but inwardly.  Christians don’t desire a holy, sanctified, and set apart life anymore.

He mentioned the life of Daniel.  Think about Daniel’s faithful life for a moment.  Daniel was faithful to God and DESIRED holiness no matter what the consequences were.  “Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.” Daniel 6:4

Imagine that, they could find NO FAULT WHATSOEVER in Daniel’s life.  They could never find him stealing, lying, cheating, gossiping, slandering, judging.  Daniel focused on God and nothing else mattered to him.  Nothing else stole his attention, nothing else took his heart, nothing else became his treasure.  Imagine no one ever being able to find fault in your life.  No one ever being able to say that you have done something wrong.  Imagine a life so focused on Jesus, that nothing else could draw you away.  I want that life! I want a life like Daniel.  A life that no one could find fault in, and a life that desires HOLINESS.

“Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s delicacies” Daniel 1:8

That is the key ladies, purposing in our hearts that we wont defile ourselves with the cares and temptations of this world.  Daniel set himself apart, and God honored him.  “God brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs” Daniel 1:9.  You see, God honors his children.  He cherishes us, and He desires us to be completely devoted to Him with all of our hearts.  Do you want a life of holiness?
