Food for thought…His delight is in the law of the Lord

sun

Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  Psalm 1

Not long ago I had someone ask me if I thought it was OK to go to a bar as long as they don’t drink at the bar.

Here is my take on this, could a Christian go to a bar? Well yea, they could.  Does the Bible say do not go to a bar? No it doesn’t.  Does the Bible say do not have one single drink? No it doesn’t.  BUT IT DOES SAY THIS….Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits at the seat of the scornful, BUT HIS DELIGHT IS IN THE LAW OF THE LORD, and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

We as Christians need to TOW THE LINE, HOLD THE LINE, and KEEP THE LINE.  What I mean by that is the world is progressively going in the WRONG direction, and Christians follow behind in the wrong direction.  We as American Christians have lowered the bar, we’ve sunk the standards, and we’ve moved the line in order to keep up with the world.  Could I go to a bar? Yea I could. Would it benefit me in any way? No, it wouldn’t.  My actions, my thoughts, my words, all that I do should be pushing and pressing me towards my Savior, and my desire should be to meditate on Him day and night.  I should desire Him more, and how I spend my time should reflect my desire to be closer to Him.

Being complete and undivided in Jesus will cause all the things in this world to grow dim, it will cause us to not even desire them.  As we fill ourselves with Him, we won’t even need to ask if the things in this world are OK to partake of because we will no longer have an appetite for them.

Fill yourself with Him today, and may the cares of this world fade away.
