Food for thought…His great grace

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:4-9

his grace

So often I think about how pitiful I can be as a Christian, how unfaithful I am to Jesus, and how I don’t love Him nearly as much as He deserves.  It leads me to ask the Lord, “Why on earth do you love me? Why did you choose me? I have nothing good to offer to you.”   These strangling questions often bother me.   Maybe it is not something that you have ever struggled with, but I often struggle in this way.  Seeing my faults and failures, it is as though our enemy loves to shine the light on those things in my life and accuse me.

I was talking to a dear sweet friend a couple days ago, and she shared something so encouraging with me. She said “God sees our lives from beginning to end, and He sees all of our problems, our failures, and our shortcomings, yet He still wanted us, and He still chose us. ”  WOW!

As I was shopping the other day, I was picking out some fresh fruit.  I picked up the fruit and inspected it, typically we pick the best, ripest, cleanest looking fruit.  Why? Because we pay for it and we want our money’s worth.  Not so with God, He saw us, flawed, dirty, and wretched and said “I want that one and I’m going to pay the highest price for her because I love her beyond measure.”  He knows every sin we have, every problem, every tear we cry, He knows! The beauty in this is that He loves us anyway.  He forgave us, cleansed us, made us new.

We cant grasp this because it is not how our human mind thinks, He came to heal the sick, He came to set the captives free, and He came for you and I.  Don’t let our enemy accuse you, don’t let him tell you that you are not good enough for God’s love, don’t let him tell you that you are unusable. God loves you, He wants to use you, and by His blood you are perfect and Holy.

His mercy is new today and His grace finds us wherever we are at! May we follow Him, love Him, and praise Him.

Think about the lyrics to this song, he knows our life from beginning to end with all of our faults, yet loves us and gives us His great grace!

It’s there in the newborn cry
It’s there in the light of every sunrise
It’s there in the shadows of this light
Your great grace

It’s there on the mountaintop
It’s there in the everyday and the mundane
There in the sorrow and the dancing
Your great grace

Oh, such grace

From the creation to the cross
Then from the cross into eternity
Your grace finds me
Yes, Your grace finds me

It’s there on a wedding day
There in the weeping by the graveside
There in the very breath we breathe
Your great grace

Same for the rich and poor
Same for the saint and for the sinner
Enough for this whole wide world
Your great grace

Oh, such grace

From the creation to the cross
Then from the cross into eternity
Your grace finds me
Yes, Your grace finds me

There in the darkest night of the soul
There in the sweetest songs of victory
Your grace finds me
Yes, Your grace finds me

Your great grace
Oh, such grace
Your great grace
Oh, such grace

So I’m breathing in Your grace
And I’m breathing out Your praise
I’m breathing in Your grace
Forever I’ll be
Breathing in Your grace
And I’m breathing out Your praise
I’m breathing in Your grace
Forever I’ll be
Breathing in Your grace
And I’m breathing out Your praise
Breathing in Your grace
Forever forevermore

Yes, Your grace finds me
Yes, Your grace finds me
