Food for thought….Are you ready?

well done

My pastor said something years ago and I still think about it.  He said “If Jesus came back tomorrow, hopefully you wouldn’t want to change a thing in your life”  That was very challenging to me.  I often think, what would I change?

We often times hear about the conflicts in the middle east involving Israel,  I wish I was more skilled and cultivated in my end times Bible prophecy, but I do understand gist of it.  A few months ago, I had heard through the grapevine that we had cut ties with Israel.  Instead of first looking into the actuality of it, I immediately called my husband and told him.  Then, I prayed and confessed every area of my life that I wanted to be forgiven of and started asking God if there was anything in my life that was not pleasing to Him.  You see, it awakened me.  I thought OK, this is really the end and I want to make sure that I’m not holding any grudges, bitterness, discontentment or unconfessed sins in my life.   Shortly after, my husband called me and said that he checked online and I had been misinformed about the political news I had received.

Here is my point, what does it take to awaken us? If Jesus returned tomorrow, can you truthfully say there is nothing at all that you would change in your life? Take a minute and think about this scripture “And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears you may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.”  1 John 2:28

I am ashamed to say that there are many things that I want to change, many wrongs that I want to make right, many views that I wish I could change, many words that I wish I could take back.  Here is the beauty in God’s grace…..we can still finish well.  We can still confess our hearts, confess the things that we have made idols, confess the things that we have put before God in our lives.  He promises that “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us”  Psalm 102:12.  His grace is enough! Is there anything in your life, any attitude, any sharpness in your heart, any idol in your life, that would make you ashamed if Jesus came back tomorrow? Those are the things He desires to sift out of your life today.  I pray that we all finish well, and that we soon hear “well done good and FAITHFUL servant”

“Let us rejoice and be glad, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His wife has made herself ready”.  Have you made yourself ready?
