Food for thought…in His presence

presence

“Serve the Lord with gladness, come into His presence with singing”

Have you ever had one of those moments when God so powerfully yet quietly speaks to you?  A moment when you are busy, when you are not even thinking of the Lord, and yet in that still small voice you can hear Him.  I had one of those moments recently.  A moment when I was just busy about my day, trying to get caught up with all of my mom duties, and so quietly I could hear Jesus speak to my heart…  Marissa, I miss you.

Sometimes I have those moments when I know it is God speaking to me, it couldn’t be me because I am not even thinking about Him.  The Holy Spirit plays a mighty role in our lives and He speaks to us, convicts us, gets our attention.

Oh, how I did miss my Savior.  How busy I had been for weeks and my devotional time consisted of me reading and praying and hopping up to get to the next task at hand.  I hadn’t sat at the feet of my Redeemer and listened to Him, I hadn’t sat in the quiet of the early morning looking up at the sky and praying, I hadn’t had that perfect and sweet fellowship that I so longed for.  I missed Him too!

That same day, I sat down and read a devotional from the book “Come away my beloved”  Part of it said this:  Lift up your eyes and look upon Me, although you have forgotten Me, I have not forgotten you.  While you have busied yourself with your daily occupations, I have still been occupied with you. When your mind has been captured with the affairs of life, My thoughts have been of you.”

How true, His thoughts toward us outnumber the sand of the sea, we are always on His mind.  I pray that God would be on the forefront of our mind each and every day.  I pray that we would be so consumed by His love, and captivated by His presence throughout the day.  He wants our love, our devotion, our time.  What else could we offer to such a perfect King? Sit at His feet and hear His sweet voice as He directs your steps, pours out His love, and shows you His great grace.
