Food for thought…living for Him today

living for him

Tomorrow. I’ll do it tomorrow. We often joke about procrastination. You know “I work better under stress” but what we really mean by that is we will lazily let something slide until the absolute possible last minute then desperately attempt to pull out all the stops to get something done. I’m thankful that the salvation provided by The Lord wasn’t a “last minute plan”. We are told in Revelation 13:8 ” And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” From the very beginning of time, nay before that, God had already made a way for our salvation. Why do we then float through our days? Do you ever get tired of mediocre? Business as usual? That is because you were made to crave a God so far above us. Our souls yearn and long for deeper connections.

I know I long for conversations and truth. It really tears me up to hear the same things repeated over and over without the fervent unction placed behind it to bring about change. Lord, forgive us for all the times we get on our soap box and do our little rant instead of standing up and being an active soldier in your army. We say we want revival but there is so much we are not willing to lay down to see it. Our time. Agenda. Remote control. Keys. Cash. Sleep. Food. Whatever you try so desperately to defend, most likely, is an area that needs conquering in your life for Jesus. From one sinner to another, one saint trudging towards glory, one soldier wounded and needing a place to recover; find rest in God!

Your life was made for more than quoting tv lines, statistics and recipes. You were made to thrive. You would be surprised how much lighter you can travel when you open your hands and let God put what is necessary in them. Lord, help us to let go of what we should. We are not promised tomorrow. Help us to live for you today. I may not get to see the light tomorrow so I need to ask myself this question: did you do what you were called to do while it was day? Did you leave it all on the altar? Some days I can say yes, some days I know I could have done more.  I don’t want to be defeated!  Live a full day and let the discouragement of the devil remain where it should be…under your feet! BE HERE NOW!

“You do not know what will happen tomorrow.  What is your life? It is a vapor that appears for a little while then vanishes away” James 4:14
