Food for thought…Look up, your redemption is drawing near

look up

I read the headlines today, and my first reaction was fear.  I read about ISIS and the devastation that they are causing, the threat that they are to our safety as well as the safety of Christians around the world.  Their hatred towards Christianity and Americans is shocking, especially their willingness to do whatever it takes to destroy us.  The headline this morning said “Is America’s homeland in danger?”

My first thought was the sweet, innocent women and children that are being tortured and massacred in Iraq.  The parents who have witnessed their babies being murdered in the middle east, the wives who have watched their husbands be executed for their faith in Jesus.  These things happen every single day.  Not here, we are comfortable Christians.

Not long ago, a friend of mine said “we are warriors for Jesus”.  I am ashamed to call myself one.  I don’t consider myself one. Those dear brothers and sisters who are laying down their lives for their faith, they are who I consider warriors for Jesus, not me.  I am already fearful for the persecution that I believe is coming to America. I am afraid for the safety of my children, and for my husband who is a pastor, I am just plain scared.

I read the scripture in Luke 21 this morning “When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first…”  Did you read that? DO…NOT…BE…FRIGHTENED.

Do you know how that chapter ends?  It ends with this… “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

Sweet sisters, our redemption is drawing near.  The Bible doesn’t say “when you see these things happening you should fear.”  No, it says when you see these things happening….LOOK UP!!  Look up!! Our Savior is coming, the day is drawing near when we shall meet Him face to face, when He will bring justice.

Do not be fearful in these last days, be BOLD! Be different! Represent your Savior as you cling to Him, heed His voice, and rest in the shadow of His wings.  In Him alone you will find peace, protection, and safety. I am so thankful that we walk with the Lord of Lords, the Creator of the universe, God almighty.  He is on our side 😉 Rest in that today, rest in His presence, there you will find peace.
