Food for thought…Love endures all things

love endures all things

Recently I was hurt by someone, she didn’t really care that much that she hurt me, and she continued to slander our ministry.  My first response was to put a wall up, sometimes we write people off, we sever friendships because we are hurt.  I was about to do just that, I really wanted to write this person off and never trust her again, and I really wanted to call her and tell her what I thought!

As I prayed that morning, I walked out my front door and saw the basketball hoop that my husband hung.  He made it for me when we first got married.  The back of the hoop has a scripture written on it.  The scripture says “Love endures all things” You see love suffers, love endures. I have failed my Savior time and time again.  I have been unfaithful to Him, hurt Him, failed Him in so many ways, but His love endures forever. It endures all things, it never changes, and it never fails.

Sometimes God puts people in our lives, and we are called to just love them.  Through thick and thin, through hard, through tough, through hurtful times.  God reminded me that He loves this woman as much as He loves me, and I am to love her also.  It is challenging, and in my own strength I cannot love, but through Him, He gives us the ability to love beyond what we are capable of.  To love when we are hurt, to love when don’t think that we can, to love with His love.  That is the beauty of God’s love, He loves us even though we are undeserving of it. He cares for us even though we fail Him.

Is there someone in your life that has hurt you time and again? Is there someone who you have written off as unloveable? Is there someone that has slandered you? God has called us to love, not just our family, our friends, but to love our enemies, love those who persecute us, love those who treat us badly.  You cannot do it in your own strength, but He will give you the ability to love beyond what you can comprehend.

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things”

1 Corinthians 13
