Food For Thought….Love

God tells us to “love one another as I have loved you.” This is a command.  Often times if I dont see my prayers answered, I wonder if I am praying according to His perfect will. Because He commands us to love in this way, we can be sure that it is His will.  So we can be sure that He will be faithful to give us a love like this toward one another. I challenge you dear sisters, to sincerely pray that God would give you a love for one another like you have never experienced before, and I guarantee it will change your life.  It takes the focus off of yourself, and causes you to focus on your brethren. My friend Courtney wrote this devotional below, my prayer is that we would be faithful to ask God to give us a love like this.  Apart from Him, we dont have it.  Ask Him.

Well now that the love holiday has passed we can go back to life as usual, right? Well. Some do. But what could life be like if we loved people like everyday was Valentine’s Day? People comment about how different it is when we are preparing for Christmas because there is an awareness of “peace on earth and goodwill toward men”. Love is more than a gift or an embrace. It is actively putting someone else’s well-being before your own.

It seems as though we only visit living this way on holidays. What a personal challenge! It is definitely not something we could do in our own. We would need the love of Jesus flowing through us. Lord, you have called us to love those around us. Our hearts fail but yours is ever constant. We lack follow through but you are steady. May our hearts beat in time with yours. Mark 12:33 “And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
