Food for thought…our JOY

The anticipation for Christmas grows and grows with each passing day. For the kids we are ao close that they can almost taste it. Remember the wonder you had as a child? The awe? The excitement? Whatever happened to that wonder? Where did it go for us as adults? So many things consume us and overtake us and what should be a joy ends up being a drudgery and causes guilt. Somewhere along the way we have lost our joy. Last night I took a trip up to Batavia with my mum. As we drove she would gasp and sigh over the beautiful lights. Each display caused her a sense of joy. I thought what has happened to us that our ability to feel joy has been lost? Life happens. Stress happens. The enemy sneaks in out lives and before you know it our joy is going down the drain like water in a tub. So take time to pause and be thankful and revel in the joys of the season.

Troubles will be here always. Yet we do not have to carry them ourselves. I’m reminded that The Lord wants to take our burdens if we are willing to part with them. So, part with them friend. You’ve been wearing the backpack of life for far too long. Go see some lights and remind yourself that life is good and worth the living. 1 Peter 1:6-9 “Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”
