Food for thought….showing Himself faithful

showing Himself faithful

As I was reading this morning about Elijah, I was amazed at the faith of this man.  He is one person (along with lots of others) and I am looking forward to meeting in heaven.  Bold! That is what Elijah was, bold. Why? Because he stood firm on the promises of God, and his life outwardly testified of that!

Elijah spoke to Ahab and the prophets and said ” Then call on the name of your gods and I will call on the name of the Lord, and the God who answers by fire, He is God.”

Elijah knew Ahab was worshipping Baal, a false god.  So he boldly called Ahab and the prophets to build an altar and make a sacrifice to their god, and Elijah did the same with the Lord, and whoever sent down fire from heaven was the true God.  Elijah boldly stood in front of 450 men and said “Hear me, O Lord, that this people may know that you are the Lord God and that You have turned their hearts back to You” Then God rains down fire from heaven and consumed the altar, the burnt sacrifice and all the wood, stones and dust around.  All of the people fell on their faces and said “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”  Elijah showed himself faithful, and in return, God showed Himself faithful.  Isn’t it beautiful how that works, when we step out in faith, and trust God completely, He always proves His faithfulness in our lives.

I see the faith of this dear Saint, and I pray for that faith as well.  God wants to use us as He used Elijah, He wants to show Himself faithful in our lives because He loves us and wants us to trust Him.

Psalms 36:5  Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.
