Food For Thought…Take Me Aside

take me aside

Now Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them,  “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death,  and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again.” Matthew 20:17-19

Lets think about this…Multitudes followed Jesus everywhere he went.  Think about a multitude of people following you.  It’s probably not quiet, not calm.  With all that, Jesus stopped to heal people.  So Jesus pulls aside the twelve disciples and talks to them alone.

I’m being honest here, my life sometimes is crazy.  I have four boys under the age of seven. My husband is a pastor, a principal, a teacher, a worship leader, plus all of the other hats that he wears at home.  Raising my little guys, and coming alongside of my husband in his calling is a full time job.  There are times that I feel pushed and pulled, lacking quietness, longing for things to be calm.  Life happens and at times it can be a whirlwind.

Jesus has never failed me.  Overwhelmed, anxious, tired, annoyed, pressed, worn-down, I have been all of those things at times.  But Jesus has always been faithful to me. He has taken me aside as He did his disciples and met with me, given me peace, encouraged me, and restored me.  Why? Because He is ever-loving, full of grace, and His mercy is new every day.

He desires to do that with each of us.  He wants to have perfect fellowship with you, He desires to be your everything, your best friend.  Maybe you are running through a face-paced life, pushing with the crowds, desperate for quiet and calm.  Let Jesus pull you aside and minister to you.  Let Him speak to you in that still small voice.  Let Him build you up to continue in your calling.  We need Him, and He is always faithful to meet with us.
