When you see the direction that America is headed, it can be frightening. The rights of Christians are being stripped away before our very eyes. Political correctness has far outweighed moral truths. We have disappeared into the shadows as our christian liberties are being dissolved. Mean while, every other religion is fighting zealously for their religious rights. Homosexuals are fervently fighting against discrimination (or so they call it). What have Christians fought for? What have we defended? What have we been zealous about? Not much!
Our brothers and sisters in Christ are being tortured and slain all over the world. I heard a story one time of a believer that lived in a third world county who had the opportunity to visit America. As a pastor brought him back to the airport to return to his country, the pastor said “I am praying for you and your country, that God would bless you.” The man responded and said “I am praying for your country too.” The pastor was curious and asked what his prayers were for America. He responded and said “That God would break America so that you would turn back to Him”. I guess I shouldn’t have put quotation marks there because I am paraphrasing, but you get the point.
So I have been asking God, why has American turned away from Him, why have we laid down as Christians for the sake of political correctness? Now, dont get me wrong…. I am not saying that all Christians are doing this, but I do believe the majority of Christians in America are so self consumed that they don’t care about what’s going on around the globe. The reason…the love of many has grown cold just as the Bible tells us that it will in the last days. (Matthew 24:12) Our love has grown cold and we don’t love our brothers and sisters enough to really care whats happening to them.
A few days ago I was talking to another believer about the murder of 147 college aged Christians in Kenya. Let’s be clear…these young kids were killed ONLY BECAUSE OF THEIR CHRISTIAN FAITH. Christians were separated from muslims and the Christians were immediately shot and killed. Her response…”yea, that’s a shame but thank God it’s not happening in America” Wow! It was eye opening to see the real state of believers.
There is a storm brewing. It’s here in America ladies. Our relationship with Israel is in trouble, our leaders have called Islam a religion of peace while they are purposely slaughtering anyone who doesn’t follow Allah. Ladies, Christians, Followers of Christ….open your eyes! Wake out of your sleep! Stop being too busy, too entertained, too free to care about these things.
So what can you do? Obviously most of us will not be headed to Kenya, or Israel, or Egypt in order to fight and protect believers who are being persecuted. Most of us will not be in any type of political office to make the correct choices. We must remember that we are not wrestling against flesh and blood… “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Eph 6:12. This battle is spiritual. But we have power. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.” 1 Corinthians 10:4.
We must remember and trust the Word of God. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14. We need to seek God, we need to intercede on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Christ that are facing persecution and death. We need to pray for our leaders, that their eyes would be opened. God’s hand is not so short that it cannot save them. (Isaiah 59:1) I trust the sovereignty of God, I trust that His plans are not for evil, and I trust that He has overcome all things. I want to be a Christian who hungers and thirsts for righteousness, who prays without ceasing, who loves those who are being persecuted, and who will have no regrets when I stand before my Savior one day. (soon) Ladies, don’t be luke warm. Don’t back down, don’t turn a blind eye, dont disappear into the shadows, dont fear.
In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
