Food For Thought.. The Heart of The Matter is Jesus

Yesterday as I was driving home I saw a car in the ditch. So, naturally I slowed down to talk with them to see if they were ok and if they had called for help yet. Yes, in today’s society many people have phones but not everyone. I know if I were in the ditch and it happened to be a fluke day where I didn’t have my phone I would want someone to check on me. The whole pay it forward mentality is very real to me. The young girl had her phone and had called for help and thanked me so I turned around and continued to drive home.

As I drove I had a small thought, I had to go out of my way to check on this person who I didn’t know. I wanted to make sure that they were ok and had a chance to call for help and get the support they needed to get out of that ditch. Have we on our travels today made sure that those around us have made the help call to Jesus? Random people talk to me all the time. I must have that face that says please tell me things. I’ll have the most random conversations with people but I’m telling you don’t just talk about passing things. Get to the heart of the issues.

I was on a plane back to rochester late one night and my seat buddy began to ask me all kinds of deep religious and. Moral questions. There we were at 30,000 feet in the air discussing moral relativism. I’ve never seen him again but for that hour and a half I gave him Jesus. I wasn’t expecting that but what people need is Jesus. Don’t just rush around and hurry on your way. Ask the Lord to show you what you are to learn in the set backs of life. Physical occurrences in your life have spiritual significance and implications!

James 1:4-5 “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” I love how Paul tells us he didn’t want to know anything among us but Jesus Christ and Him crucified. He wanted to get to the heart of the matters in our life. We cloud things up with so many side details. Let’s get to the heart of it all!
