Food for thought…Time, where has it gone?!?!

where does the time go

My husband’s grandmothers were both recently in the hospital.  We took a visit to see one of his grandmother’s yesterday.  As I looked around her room, she had pictures hanging on the wall of her late husband and herself.  I looked at the picture, next to it I saw a picture of my son when he was little.  When I turned around, I saw both her and my son sitting together.  How different they both looked now.  All at once, my heart broke.

Life is precious.  Short, indeed. We talk about how fast time “flies”.  There are so many things that I wish I had done with my husband’s grandmother before she got to this point.  Then I realized, there are so many things that I wish I had done with my son also.

Time does fly.  Some days, as mothers, we are just trying to get by.  Just trying to get through the day with no problems or disasters.  It’s easy to get into that mode.  Just doing what we need to do.  Being in that mindset makes us miss out on life and the blessings that God has for us.  I’m called to be a mother, and I want to be the best one that I can be.  There are lessons we must sit and teach our children.  An older friend of mine told me that when she was young, kids didnt dare step out of line at school, they didnt dare to talk back to their parents because they honored their parents, they didnt dare to speak harshly to anyone.  Parents have failed to take the time to teach their kids these valuable and biblical lessons. Why? Because we are rushing through life. Not taking the time to do the things that matter, the things that have eternal value.  Children are a gift, a blessing, they are eternal just as you and I. Teaching them biblical truths is not something that we should take lightly.

As they reside in your home, they are under your leadership.  Now is the time to instill and teach the biblical and precious truths to your children.

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6.

Train up your child now, soon they will no longer be children and we will all wonder “where did the time go”?
