Food for thought….Wake Up

Alarms. Some people like them and some people don’t. I’ve heard the differing lines of logic regarding them, from “if I don’t have one I would never be on time” to “I can’t sleep if I have a clock in the room because I keep looking at it.” Each are very valid in their own right. To each his own I say. I think alarms are wonderful things. I set alarms for myself to remind myself. I forget to do things for myself all the time. For instance, I set an alarm at night for before I go to bed to take my vitamins. Sad, I know, but it has worked this far. I’m trying a new schedule and am trying to train myself, if you will, hence the alarms. But there is a funny thing about alarms. They have what’s known as a ‘snooze’ button. Which permits the user of the device to remain in their current state a little longer only to be reminded again once the snooze has expired. But that’s not all! Have you ever shut your alarms off in your sleep? I have and it does not make for a nice day!

But that is the danger of becoming too familiar with things and keeping them so close. Shock of all shockers, my alarms is my phone. My phone is within arms reach most of the time. Sometimes I forget to take it off vibrate, so my apologies if you are waiting for a response! It’s not deliberate I promise! If we are not careful we can muffle, silence, and shut off the alarm system the Lord has placed in our lives. He places our lives to come in contact with those who would warn us of our error. I am reminded of Israel and the watchers on the wall.

Joel 2:1 “Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand;” There are those among us who are blowing the trumpets loud and long and all the while the warning is going unheeded. Be careful friends! Wake up! Time is drawing to a close!
