Food for thought…we are not self sufficient

we are not self sufficient

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

I like to think of myself as self sufficient and I want to be more self sufficient as far as material items go such as food and clothing.  Spiritually, we are not made to be self sufficient.  Self sufficient means not to rely on anything.

Recently I saw a friend of mine, she is stuck in the same sin that she was in 5 years ago.  Bitterness, promises of stopping, brokenness, pain, hurt, and tears have led her no where.  Why? Because she has relied on herself.  You see, we live in a “SELF” society.  A society that tells us to use our inward strength to do things, and focus on our strength and self will to get things done.  That is why rebellion, sin, drunkenness, drugs, pornography and every other blamphemous thing is on the rise today.  We have think that we are spiritually self sufficient, when in reality we ARE NOT.  People fall into sin and they are held by the power and grip of sin in their lives, and they cant get themselves out of it……But….God can.

You see dear sister, your sufficiency needs to come from God alone.  He is All Mighty, Sovereign God who is sufficient for everything and anything that you may ever face in this life.  Any sin you fall into, any stronghold that grips you, any fear that holds you.  His power and grace is sufficient for you.

I heard a pastor teach “His grace has no measure, His love has no limits, His power has no boundaries known unto man, for out of His infinite riches in Jesus, He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.” Think about that He giveth and giveth and giveth again!  His love for you never changes, it never ends and its boundaries are limitless.  That is an all sufficient God.

Whatever is holding you today, whatever sin you may have, whatever stronghold you keep returning to, you are not able to break yourself from it, but God can, and His grace is sufficient.  He enables us.  Hand it over to God today, it takes humility, but that’s when God begins to work.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint… you know what this verse means? It means VICTORY. It can be yours today.
