Food for thought…What is Beauty?

what is beauty

I am thankful that in Proverbs 31, when the Lord is describing a virtuous woman, He does so without using physical characteristics. He beauty is in her labor, willingness to help, vision for the future, respectability and so on. A friend and I were talking the one time and we both concurred that yes there must have been something about her that was beautiful but it was the entirety of her person that was beautiful. Usually we hear people comment on someone’s eyes, smile, hair or body size in relation to their beauty and while it is true, I fear we are in danger of only making our outsides beautiful and neglect what will truly last.

Esther won the king without being dazzled by a lot of extra add ons to catch his attention. Lord, show us how to be beautiful on the inside so that it radiates to the outside. Guide our men to the quiet strength that rests in you and not in a gym membership. When both sides of the equation are measuring up to God and not the person next to them what a scale that would be.

Proverbs 31:30 “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord , she shall be praised.” There isn’t anything more beautiful than a man or a woman who is completely dependent on God.
