Food for thought…what will be remembered in you and I?

My friend Courtney wrote this…

Memories are powerful things. They hold on to our most treasured times like a great vault. At times a phrase, scene, smell or other person can take you back to a certain place and time. It’s almost like watching a movie in ones head of the event in question. A person walking down memory lane in their mind will say things like “10 years ago today,….” And proceed to tell you the story with details so vivid to them that you can tell this memory is fresh to them as though it just occurred.

I have such a brain. There have been moments I have caught myself drifting off, as it were, in an old memory and I’ll need to bring myself back from it . I can’t live in my memories. They have passed and cannot be altered. I need to live in my present. What have I done today that will have made a memory for someone else later. People of method and depth do what they can while it is day and while things may be accomplished. They don’t set out to be someone’s hero they just want to see a task set right. One day your life and mine will be reviewed by those we knew and even those who we did not know yet knew us. They will have many things to say but I often wonder what we think we will be remembered for and what people actually say.

Lord, I want to be a good memory. There’s too much to be done to just play over yesterday’s troubles. Help me Lord to move on. Forever Forward. I don’t know what the end date of my life is but one thing is for sure, I don’t want to look back over my life and realize I wasted it. Good and bad will be remembered of you and of me. Live a life of impact and dare to be different!
Acts 9:36 “Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.”
