Food to start your day…….

thankful

My sweet friend Deb sent me this devotional that she wrote yesterday morning and it was so good that I asked her if I could post it on here for all of you.  Of course, because she is always encouraging others, she said yes 🙂

Matthew 5:14-16

“You are the light of the world.  A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on it’s stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Recently, I’ve caught myself grumbling about my own circumstances, feeling alone or insecure.  Almost immediately, God put someone in my path who had it a lot worse than me.  Someone who desperately needed to see the love of Christ.  Reality check anyone?

The reality is that God’s got us!! Surrendering circumstances at His feet, resting in his peace, and knowing that the pieces of one’s life puzzle will be put together in His timing are key!

Philippians 4:6-

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything with prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

Let us trust our Savior and leave worry at His feet!

Thanks Deb for that awesome encouragement.  Does anyone else feel this way at times? We can get our minds on our own circumstances, and we lose sight of the big picture.  Our light goes out because we have our eyes on our own surroundings and we don’t shine.  We become a dull, gloomy Christian.

Guess what dear sisters, we choose.  We choose our attitude, we choose our words, we choose our actions. “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” When our heart is thankful, our words will be encouraging.  When our heart is ungrateful, our words will be critical. “But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken” It starts in our hearts ladies.  Do you have a heart of gratitude that shines for your Savior? Your words will show it.   Thank God for the blessings in your life today.  Your family, your spouse, your church family, your Savior.  All those things that are worth being thankful for! Pslam 107:1 “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His steadfast love endures forever”
