Homemade Cinnamon Buns!!! MMMM!!

cinn buns

These Cinnamon Buns are sooooo good.  You’ll have to stop yourself from eating the entire pan!

Here is the recipe:

Cinnamon Buns

Dough

1 1/2 tablespoons dry yeast

1/2 cup warm water

1 stick melted butter or margarine

1 cup whole milk or heavy cream ( I have also used part milk and part vanilla coffee creamer :))

3/4 cup sugar

1 egg

4 cups flour

Cinnamon and sugar layer

1 stick softened butter or margarine

1 1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup sugar

3 tablespoons cinnamon

Frosting

8 ounces cream cheese (I have forgotten to buy this for the recipe so a couple times I have left it out)

1 stick softened butter or margarine

3 cups powdered sugar

1/4 cup milk

Directions

1)Mix all the dough ingredients together and let rise for an hour

2)Roll out dough onto a lightly floured surface, roll it into a 1/4″ thick piece that is about 16x 9 inches big (more or less is fine)

3) Use 1 stick of butter or margarine and spread over top of the dough, (pretend like you are buttering your toast) you should have a good amount over the whole piece of dough

4) Mix cinnamon and sugar ingredients together and sprinkle evenly over top

5) Roll up starting at the long end

6) After it is rolled into a log, spray a jelly roll pan or a 13X 9 inch pan

7) Use a piece of floss(unflavored) or thread to cut the log, do this by wrapping it around the log (about 1/2″ pieces) and cross the thread, by pulling it together you will cut the dough.  If you have no idea what I am talking about, you can watch a video about it here

8) Place dough into pan, I filled my pan and had 4 pieces left so I made another little pan with the 4 extra

9) Let rolls double in size (either place in a barely warm oven or let rise on the counter) In the oven will take about an hour.

10) Preheat oven to 350 and bake for 15-18 minutes or until rolls are lightly brown and no longer doughy.

11) Let cool partially, mix frosting ingredients, you want the frosting to be spreadable but not too watery.  Spread over top of partially warm rolls, eat while hot!!! 🙂
