How much dressing do you REALLY use? Dont be fooled! AND the best salad recipe.


This made me laugh yesterday, ever since I posted about me tight capris here, I’ve been substituting one meal a day with a salad.  So I make this mouthwatering salad for dinner last night, and thought I would double check the calories in the dressing.  It’s yogurt dressing so it cant be that bad, right? (by the way, wegmans yogurt dressing is amazing, I highly recommend it) So 90 calories per 2 tablespoons.  Hmmm….not too bad….IF…you only really eat 2 tablespoons.  I wanted to see how many I really used on my salads.  So I got our my measuring spoon and measured until I thought it was the right amount that I typically put on my salads.  The answer….NINE!! Not two, but NINE!! Do you know what that means? I’m eating 405 calories just in my dressing. Not much of a diet considering the fact that I could have had a juicy hamburger for only 279 calories! Anyway, don’t fool yourselves with the dressings.  2 tablespoons is a joke! But here’s my recipe anyways, you’ll love this salad:

Southwestern Salad

Chopped Romaine lettuce
1/4 cup of canned corn
1/4 cup salsa
1 grilled chicken breast cut into strips
grated cheddar cheese
crushed doritos (I skip these if I’m trying to go the healthier route, although with my dressing overload I guess it’s not healthy anyways)
1/4 cup canned black beans
9 tablespoons of wegman’s southwest ranch yogurt dressing 🙂
