Food for thought….the blessed hope

“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:13

I hated reading the news today.  It was disturbing in so many ways. I usually read the news in the morning and in the evening.  I’ll spare you of the details of the murders that took place on the morning news, and the evening’s news was devoted to covering the terrorism plots, the air strikes that are about to take place, the cyber hacking that terrorists are scheming against us.  When I sit and ponder these things my heart gets heavy, I get very distracted by them.

After I watched the evening news, I read the scripture above.  Oh how I began to long for heaven like never before.  I couldn’t think of anything else.  I yearn for our Savior to come and snatch us away into everlasting glory with Him.  The more I read the headlines, the more Jesus reminds me of the reality of eternity.  That soon we will forever be with Him, and He will make all things new.  There will be no death, pain or tears.  Can you imagine? Sometimes I think that we lose sight of the reward that is awaiting us.  Since we haven’t seen heaven or our Savior, I don’t think that we realize the blessings that are in store for us.  Think of John, he couldn’t even describe what heaven was like.  You and I are going to inherit a kingdom, “a city made without hands whose builder and maker is God”.  You and I are going to inherit a kingdom that is created by the Creator of the universe.

Notice that this scripture says “looking for”?  Dear sisters, are you looking for our Savior? Are you awaiting His return? Sometimes when the sky is beautiful, or the sunset is red, I look to see if I see our Savior is coming in the clouds.  I pray that I would always be looking up, and patiently awaiting the return of our Redeemer.  I cant wait to meet Him, I cant wait to reunite with those who have passed on before me, and I cant wait rest in His presence forever. Look up sisters, our hope is in Him, and He’s coming soon.
