Food for thought…take the water of life freely

take the water of life freely

“Come! Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely” Revelation 22:17

I think sometimes as believers we can become a little self righteous.  It’s something that we need to be aware of, and something that we need to cast down.  Our flesh at times has the “holier than thou” attitude.

We must recognize that Jesus hates sin, yet He loves the sinner.  He loves the murderer, the adulterer, the drunkard as much as He loves you and I.  It is not His will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  All are welcome to come to the throne of Grace, where Jesus washes away our sins , adopts us as His own, and prepares a place for us in eternal glory with Him.

I went to Darien lake last week with my family.  I walked by two women that we intoxicated (or pretty close to it) and they were passionately kissing each other.  My first thought was that I needed to shield my boys eyes because I didn’t want them to ask questions, and quite honestly it was a little disturbing.  As I walked the other way and thought about it, God challenged me that He loves them as much as He loves me.  He hates the sin, but loves the sinner.  They, just as I, am in need of a Savior.  The scripture says “whosoever will”.  Whosoever will confess their sins to Jesus and recognize that He has died on the cross to redeem them of their sins is promised eternity with Him. We mustn’t look at unbelievers as though they aren’t deserving of heaven, but rather that they are just as we were….lost sinners needing a Savior.  I pray that God would give us a burden for the lost, a love for unbelievers, that we would see them as He does.  Sin is repulsive. It sure is.  Mine is too. But let us love as God loves, and out of that love we would be able to share with people the truth of God’s word and His sacrifice at Calvary.
